The YAMPA carbon fat frame is the fastest fat bike on the market with available builds weighing less than 22 pounds. Utilizing carbon materials, Borealis engineers achieve lightweight, lateral stiffness and the ability to shape tubes to perfection. We designed the seatstays to allow for ideal vertical frame flex while maintaining unmatched lateral stiffness through a massive bottom bracket and overbuilt chainstays—the YAMPA rider can get out of the saddle and accelerate with efficient bottom bracket energy transfer. Weaving through tight singletrack with nimble front-end handling is easy thanks to the tapered headtube, Borealis FF1 tapered fork and 15mm thru axle.
The Yampa features clearance for the largest fat tire and rim setup out there, a 2x10 drivetrain, and, of course, room for the extra mud and snow that you’re bound to ride through. We’ve included 3 bottle cage mounts for those that enjoy staying hydrated on the super-endurance rides, and rear rack mounts to carry gear for the long haul. The cherry on top: you can customize your fat bike at no additional cost. Hand built wheels with Borealis FH1 hubs laced to Turnagain FR80 rims are standard, with your choice of tires and color schemes. We offer Surly Bud and Lou, Big Fat Larry, and also Surly Knard or 45NRTH Husker DÜ tires in either 27 or 120 TPI. Borealis FH1 hubs come in red and black; Turnagain FR80 rims come in red, black, silver, and blue; rim strips come in red, black, blue, and white.
After rigorously testing the YAMPA since its release in September 2013, we are proud to bring you the upgraded 2014 YAMPA. A 197mm rear spacing and 12mm RockShox MAXLE thru axle increase lateral stiffness. Our new clear coat and frame drainage system improvements provide enhanced durability. The 2014 YAMPA retains no-brainer details from the previous model, such as fully internally guided cable routing, and boasts a 1290g actual frame weight. Harness this beast on your favorite piece of singletrack—you will not go back once you go fat.
